K0023
Waking up to a fresh morning at a gibbon camp. (K0023 @Phamon Sumphanthamitr)

Overnight trips offer a better chance of spotting a wide variety of nightlife, as well as awakening to the song of the reintroduced gibbons celebrating the start of a new day. We search for nocturnal life by flashlight and identify animals by sound, following quietly along the Nature-education trails before arriving at the chosen camp. Three temporary camps have been built and designed to cause minimum damage to the rain forest. They are located inside the home ranges of the reintroduced gibbons in the middle of forest and close to the stream. The camps are harmonious with the environment, simple, and efficient. A fast and easy, yet delicious meal will be enjoyed. We will prepare barbecue over an open fire, and visitors can taste a variety of edible wild herbs and vegetables.

After sharing a meal we will fall asleep in hammocks equipped with mosquito nets, listening to the serenade of night sounds as frogs and insects call and nocturnal birds sing. In the morning we will awaken to a completely different chorus as the forest prepares for a new day. A simple breakfast will be prepared before we head off on the trek back to civilization, with the opportunity to observe some diurnal wildlife along the way.
