     p_g Extra Program:
Social house -"KES look out"

K0021
Walking out through a village plantation on the way back after completing tasks for the reintroduced gibbons in deep forest. ( K0021 @Phamon Sumphanthamitr)

This option allows interested visitors to get hands-on experience as part of the project, while at the same time offers the same opportunity as the other treks to enjoy the rainforest and its inhabitants.

This programme is designed to be flexible and there is no set itinerary. Visitors could take part in some of the daily duties inside the KPT forest, which may include: providing food to the newly released gibbon group, camp maintenance, mapping, trail maintenance or trail cutting for a new release site, setting up the acclimatization cage in preparation for a new release, fitting the radio transmitter to a gibbon ready for release, following up with behavioral observations and data collection, identifying the food species that the gibbons eat and their sleeping trees, and identifying the fauna and flora in the ecosystem. Not all of the above activities can be guaranteed, because they are dependent on the events and needs of the gibbon rehabilitation project.

K0022
Eco-friendly discussion and exchanging knowledge with friends in the evening at social house. (K0022 @Phamon Sumphanthamitr)

Visitors who wish to participate in the KES project will stay at Bang Rong village, only 2 kilometers from the park. This is a better option for visitors who are pressed for transport time to the park. The housing option is ideal for backpackers/hardcore tourists, students, researchers, naturalists and conservationists who wish to learn more about our work, and would like to discuss and exchange knowledge. The visitor will get more information from our staff and volunteers at the project, and can spend time discussing wide ranging interests including wild animal life, reintroduction, captive caring, management, health, behavior, ecology, fauna and flora of the rainforest. They can then make decisions about the plan for the next day, and the visitors can choose either program (A to Extra) depending on their preference.

The benefits of any tourist activities in this area can help to sustain local communities, by offering alternative incomes other than ways which damage the forest and any plant and animal life within its ecosystems. The project will accommodate these activities. At the project office we provide accommodation, and visitors can also see an area where we care for orphaned and mistreated animals.
